Alexander ia an American painter and illustrator. He began his career in New York in 1875 as a political cartoonist and illustrator for Harper’s Weekly. In 1877 he went to Paris for his first formal art training, and then to Munich, he enrolled at the Kunstakademie under Gyuala Benczúr.

Michail Vrubel (1856-1910) is an outstanding Russian artist. Michail Vrubel trained drawing since his childhood. 1880 to 1884 he attended the Petersburg Academy of Applied Arts. He was taught by P.P. Chistykov.
